Waiting to be interrogated
A survivor from a shipwreck.
What did I hear or feel or see
Beyond knowing in the shock?
Steel exploding, water gushing
Your tomb submerging, gravity
No longer buoyant, disoriented
Up was down, points of light
Flooded in, stars falling, bloody
Sky panic filled quickly with
Futility, resignation of a fate.
Lungs heavy with vapor, choke
Asthmatic desperation pressure
On the eyes, bladder compressed
Where was blood coming from?
What had I left undone or failed
To say? Hurtling to hell alone
As others fell by the way, gurgle
The last breath, reach, stretch
For the last hope, hold on now.
