One church bell of the half hour
dividing a slice of day, laid out
under gray vapor condensed
fields concealing information
and cooling warm ensembles
of piercing rays, below overcast
underside of heaven, where I sit
the veil of clouds that separate
me from the presence, leaving
only a local waiting to serve
upon a silver space of cold stone.
