I awoke to discover an order
the autumn in my life, space
before winter, celebration of
harvest, life’s greens ripened
orange pumpkins, red apples
cherries, purple pear shaped
eggplant, amber evenings era
between falling leaves, yellow
corn, crimson alchemy stirred
mysteries of gold vespers knell
in color, resting from a busy
season, tired from a long trip
many miles, yet, still to go
the quiet of distance measured
in a sextant’s azimuthal dome.
