I return deeper into abstraction
move with difficulty into a pathless jungle
tangle of roots and fronds, bromeliad
covering branches, precious light captured above
widening gap between what I know and what is
leading to defeat, resignation to alienation
estranged from the thing in itself, left to dwell
in forms, measuring devices, apparatus
of interval readings, journals stuffed with
collections of data, filling my cupboards
collations still to do, answers maybe not there
relation syntax more complex, as snakes
of semantics slither and coil in the trees
hidden in darkness below giant leaves.
