Ruin displays decay and final collapse
value withers, the green fades
stone weathers, wreck of wonders
once, wane of fame’s light, broken bent
crumbles the edifice of proud erudite
walls fall, new halls for lizard runs
scorpion’s delight, jackals whining in the night
battered and beat, bramble weeds tumble
in dusty sun, the curse of vanity has won.
