MANGO TREE

Waiting in the shade of a mango tree
transfers of thought held in suspense
among the branches that touch the sky
power to govern growth from virtue
of heaven, flowers have closed, as fruit
is formed, the bees have performed
their duty, now warm days fold, sweet beds
for matured ovule, mangos to fall
the last days of summer, before rain
begins the cycle again, in wet loam
a dark womb, inverted tomb, home
to nurture periodic recurrence
sprouting, instinct sealed in the seed.
