JASMINE

Warm nights open fragrant flowers
flush the ambient air, overspreading
flow in oleaceous ovary scent, perfume
of genus jazminum, attractor of instinct
perpetual motions of darkness, released
in minimum dose, of evening’s domain
weaving, tangling us in sweet aromatic
weakening forces of resistance, at short distance
asymptotic freedom of the heart, breathing in
the better part, we succumb to love’s blind optic.
