GROUND

Just when you think that you know everything
necessary, at least have mastered cultural designs
and models to accumulate wealth, recognition
and possessions, living successfully on the surface
protected from the abyss of thought, too busy to bother
some unexpected alignment of stars will warp
your hubris in a pull or jerk of overpowering gravity
straining the struts, tresses taut, tense, nails and bolts
give, shingles pop, the dome of your pavilion cracks
chunks fall, shattering on the ground of your secure illusion.
