DAYBREAK

I wake in a rush, pulse of thought
running nervous energy, somatic
afferent, visceral efferent urgencies
of daybreak, signaled in a sympathetic
symphony, harmonies of years, eons
vibrate, collate with imagination
trying to be where I am left out
race on a neural track, twitching
ganglion sense the musical sounds
of morning, restless birds whistle
ready the coming on of light, warble
busy billets duties call, fill an early
agenda of the day, talking from
the treetops, while I wait
new marching orders and plead
patience in orderly arrangements.
