Sorrowful heart, at times, as though
etched, cut in restless agitated sea
driven by wind, full sail, taut starboard
tact, leaning, holding tilt the rudder
wheel tugging in opposition, rigging
whining the whims of Poseidon
reversing the clock to home
in screaming blasts to snap a mast
running gear collapsed, deadeyes
lanyard, strop from shroud or stays
in disarray, as waves crash, buoyant
violence, blinking wet, valiant taking
all, that is given, engraved in stone
alone, to reflect  that this is real liven.
