He quickly rose, like a spring weed
to the top, point of the pyramid
a turd that floats, glib, gregarious
air of breeding, born with silver
trust and deed, degree, elite education
prepaid, dapper blue, true to the daily
zodiac, gold button greed, polished nails
razor cut hair, a flare for Machiavellian
subtleties, bad seed, misleading remarks
knives in the back, to protect his own
feigned concern for otherís pain
un-pretended disdain, on short lists
of politicianís donors, to invest
in favored means, glad handing ignorant folks
in newspaper quotes, bold in the boardroom, bank
and able to take his liquor at the bar.
