He climbed Parnassus, more than once
entranced by the mystery of romance
but now confused, baffled by age
left to muse the predicament
no aura of ambiguity to give relief
only perspicuity’s sharp doubt
that startles, pierces him throughout
like words in flight, never perching
in syntactic patterns, nor orders
in recognizable nexus of colors.
