Here I am in a hollow land
calm, stillness after a storm
exhaustion in the air, no wind
barely perceptible breeze
caresses the leaves, alone
always, walking here or in Havana
I am cerebral, my world moves
in my head, a cave of bright shadows
dreaming with Homer or hearing
what the dry bones said, clips of green
mejuco and monte, hardwood trees
speed across this window frame
my seat along an asphalt alley way.
