MEMORY II

Drawing from my well, refreshing
moments, savory memories sweet
encounters, as good as it can be
free and humble, far from the
highest seats of the synagogue:
the lilting buzz of bees busy in
lofty meadows or day fading on
an ocean shore, the warm flooding
rolling into its respiring embrace
believing; darkening skies thunder
echoing lightning, wind signaling
an approach of torrential rains
heightening harmony, drumming
the tops of trees, sounding against
preceding chords, monkeys screech
last birds head for shelter before
a marvelous baptism of new life
spreads over, drenching me wet.
