The love to which I refer: bold embracing
all consuming organic fusion Leda and the Swan
without conditions of egoism, devoted service
to your other, inseparable cementing
of hearts and minds, no coyness in the loss
of time, only sacrifice for the common good
of virtues praised, patience in the long years
humbleness to eat the shrinking pie, cutting
thinner each slice to share, the growing
kingdom with its burdens to bear, tender
fondness, kind in each detail, walking irritation
around the block once or twice, sing of Cupid
Venus symbol of the ancients, enchanted isles
kept by Sirens decoying infatuation, destruction
wagered against the lust yet forever the race
depends on ardent fervor, today I labor at
these lines, to perpetuate the affection that I feel.
