APRIL 18, 2009

In afternoon shade one is detached
dreary, listless, waiting for the rains
to come, the last days of summer
content here upon this park bench
from out of sleep: all roads lead to
this center block of trees, the wind
in their leaves, tides in sessions
redemption and confession resonate
from a distant shore, my orientation
in time present is broken, lapsed
in waves of reminiscence as I let go
for a moment and am lifted in the air
moved by fans of palm, stretching out
trusting completely in this levitation
reflection canceling the gravity of cares.
