WAYFARER

He set out on foot, a traveler odd
upon the land, naked beggar poor
wayfarer, ever humble before his God
storms lashed, rain fell, lightning
slashed his modest shelter
winter drew on, helter-skelter
lengthening nights left refuge
only in prayer, tumultuous alms
meager sustenance to carry on.
