Terrestrials are grounded in soil
their leafy stem rises from tubers
mass of rhizomatous roots, below
grass coverings or deep down
even marshy swaps submerged
from Russia desert steeps near
artic chill to temperate woodlands
even tropic ambiance bodes well
some have pseudo bulbs, adapt in
dormancy, others creeping rhizome
green emerges in wet seasons
opportunists wherever they dwell
brightening colors bog or meadow
forested vale, con-artists attracting
insects to their labellum to pollinate
vigorous stalwart flowering austere
environments not excluded coloring.
