Strangers entered the house
polyglots of languages confused
descendants of Virgil, a Catullus
irony of longing, past emotions
words absorbed, invented anew
feeding off elaborate harmonies
of discordant voices, chiming
cacophony, miraculously united
in dissonance, literally, Babel
redeemed, ambiguities laid bare
limitations embracing the new
possibilities of poetic existence.
