SOME TRUTH

“Before anything”, he insisted
as the temperature rose
distant background thunder
signaled approaching rain
as he tried to establish position
mark out a territory, though
temporary at best, green flocks
of parrots squabbled, squawked
screeching as they chased off
around pylons of palms
“no, that’s right, some truth
there, that definitely compares.”
