SHIP LOG OCTOBER 1915
October 2, anchored at Coco Island
05°31' North 87°04' West, calm swell
seabirds enjoying a feast in boiling
waters, dark rain squalls southeast
six crew ashore to fill water barrels
barometric pressure falling alert
urges all to return now seaboard
all onboard at four o’clock, anchor
lifted, water stored, storm signs
signal with distant lightning strikes
darkening cumulus wind increases
hatches battened, setting coarse
away from approaching tempest.
