SAME LINES

He wrote the same lines
as were written before
a phrase that had stood
the test of time, fragments
broken pieces of words
that finally, selves revealed
having been there in the way
brushed by un-noticed until
a life transformed by pain
joy, turbulence of noise sees
hears them as never before
poet’s love consumes them
saves them to the page
induces to become something
else far greater, as the poem
had cast aside the world
abandoned its trivialities
tinkling ornaments, trinkets
to sacrifice all, to preserve
in prosody, the immortality
of a thought, profound sound.
