Our life exposes natural forces
within ourselves that sustain
confound, bases and origins
of radical extremes that root
or rip apart, radiate character
hold us to the ground, rifts
that lead to rubble and ruin
or the base space of our own
topology, moving from center
radially out, bending, stretching
yet invariant of our own identity
as we see our face in an orchid
bilateral symmetry that mirrors
us in rich colors and deception
mimicking the female insect to
attract males into a perfumed
vortex, instincts of the id
drive us to limits or preserve
the race, as we feel trapped
learning that our jailer is us.
