A window open, night air whispers
in sounds of waves, distant swelling
doubling interminably, yet grows
heavier as density of atmosphere
thickens, fog settles along the lanes
shadows more gray, deprived of
swiftness, denser mist perpetuates
the same beyond the reach of sight
smell of summer dampness, wet dew
envelopes all, outside the window frame.
