No Name Lake

May 19, 1988 at 9:20 p.m. with JLs scout troop.
How many times have I been in here, the lake echoing?
Laying on the shore, watching night come on
faint stars and planets brightening as shades fade
into blackness, revealing bright heavens of Greek Legends
the greater light to rule the day; the lesser to rule the night
slowly , first Vega then the Big Dipper, Draco, Polaris
the focal. 7:40 a.m. May 20, 1988, this past week, more pressures
looming decisions, I need to become more productive
similarities of nature: the growth and change that comes
with time, about ten years ago SM, JJ and I came here
I have been here many times between and will probably be here again
I have many crises’ now, glad for the time to reflect and think
about life, gather productive energy to break out of constraints
let the mind free, what did I learn by awakening the spirit?
The boys now building a raft, JL moving a big log, completely wet
except for his head. Who am I, can I be true to that, can I turn back
should I turn, quest of discovery, where is the romance?
Watching the busy ants over rocks and sticks, their scouts searching
for sustenance, survival, as I lay here in the sun, trees, cedar, pine, fir
dogwood in bloom, the lake dazzling in the morning light, against
distant shadows of forested mountains, the cycle of life
dogwood in bloom, the lake dazzling in the morning light, against
decomposing, replenishing habitat, bees at work , flies chasing the free lunch.
