Machetes cracking, splitting wood
cling and chime of steel, workers
voices reverberate to cut branches
overhang to open coffee plants
to sun and rain, with blossoms
closed, the fruit secure to mellow
beans in mountain air, as we must
often open up, remove debris
excess covering, expose our heart
to grow, mature and happily be.
