Disquietude reigns, suspicion hides
in judge Toad’s court, domain
where flies won’t lite, moth’s circle
far from flames, mosquitos buss busily
his bulging eyes shift, croak startles
sticky tongue whips the air
evidence is weighed in seriousness
of double chin, judgment pending
everybody tries not to stare.
