He paused in parenthesis, gap
in his day, interval of thinking
that there was nothing but
an opening, yet a canyon
of unrealized options, spread
poised, suspended as time
seemed still, un-moveable
for a moment, no leaf moved
no breeze relieved the heavy
deep valley heat of a hollow
mirage that only he could realize.
