FALSE TALE

This poem is false
he held tight
to a deck plank
torn, broken away
awash in a restless ocean
his only security
between life and death
floating above
thousands of fathoms
unknown world at his feet
open sky
where only birds fly
above
what odds favor
some ship passing by?
