Behind the notes, the signs, allegedly asserted
as music to the ear, there is reserved, hidden
in the text, alternative harmonies and melodic strains
concealed in the score, lost to wander outside
the moment of measure, later to be revealed
found anew, excluded earlier by cultural design
limited to what had gone before, to be summoned
from the deep, cosmic readjustments, as rifts shut
events change with new sequence of sounds
traditions lose authority and exiles return home.
