END OF THE LINE

Arrived at line’s end
got off and waited
nobody came
eyes grew dim
muscles atrophied
more hair turned gray
a tooth or two fell
hearing distant
ligament joints stiffer
pains, aches circulated
heart beat slower
pulse fainter, as the old
time piece wound down
waiting, finally stopping.
