The compass needle points into the wind
resistance, opposition to progress
brace, hold tight, steady the tiller
tack windward, zig in zephyr jaws
zag with trembling, searching rudder
as taut canvass now flaps, collapsed
slack, blown back, but decided to try
again, push further against reason
conventional laws, blind nay sayers
told you so, stubborn, when the going
gets tough, to reach the distant shore
go farther than you have gone before.
