Abundant water flowed from beneath
the embankment, undercutting soil
collapsing structural beliefs that bend
then give way, one thinks of dikes
against tides that rise, to hold
as the circle of change returns
to where we failed before, doubted
rationalized, never learning, unprepared
as confluence moves the heart
resolve relents, inside churned
breath spent in defense, no time
to repent, will inevitably bent.
