CATTLEYA V

Beauty that resists flux
intelligence unattached
floating, mind drawing in
distant past sensations
to mull, wonder and work
copious, shapeless thought
coarse aspect of things
caught in flowers to amaze
undifferentiated moments
catching our attention
in clusters of pink crimson
to ask questions unimagined
before we wake from a daze
ephemeral permanence
breeze held, transitory ground
leaving us to extend faculties
pause in inadequate silence
to understand design hence.
