A QUESTION

Is life a poem, harboring dark conceits
a metaphorical allegory, search for
authenticity in a forest of codes of conduct
and trust, confronting, our wayfaring selves
the dragons of denial and minotaur of fear
grasping, not fully aware, for words
threads to drag us out, lost in woods
or submerged in lakes, covenants of cleansing
waters, mystery yet contained in self, alone we wander?
