ALONG THE EDGE

Age is troubled by
deep perception of patterns
as the surface is an edge
of some hierarchy
place of reflection
invisible ledge of the soul
as a child squats at
a tide pool side, reaching in
for urchins and crabs
breaking transparent stillness
of water and air
to hide the movement of life
in carved crevices, holes
delicate corals seated there.
